“The blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7b, CSB)
There is freedom in that promise. We don’t strive to repay the penalty because of our sins. That is impossible. The blood of Jesus cleanses us. It doesn’t matter what sins are in our past; Jesus paid it all.
“For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.” (Colossians 1:13–14, NLT)
“who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,” (Galatians 1:4, NASB 2020)
“For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26:28, CSB)
Think about that for a moment. How great the Father’s love for us. How powerful the blood of Jesus that washes away our sin. By Christ’s blood, we are not only cleansed but transformed. We are rescued from the kingdom of darkness and become partakers of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
As Isaiah prophesied centuries before Christ, “Come, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are crimson red, they will be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18, CSB)
All the promises that follow flow from this one mighty promise of forgiveness, citizenship, and fellowship through the blood of Jesus. It is through the blood that we have a personal relationship with God.
The benefits of Christ’s blood are for those who accept it. Those who have recognized their own sin confessed them to God with repentance and asked Jesus to come into their life to be their savior and Lord. The blood of Christ is powerful.
